Ability, if any: Great strength and speed. Communication with animals. This communication is limited to what an animal would ordinarily be able to understand and communicate back, mostly through body language and normal animal vocalizations. So for example, YES to: "Guard this door, Dog" and NO to: "Did a guy in purple shirt walk past?" While magic is interesting and usually appropriate, it's not always very useful. The bad part of his equine-ness: Has poor eyesight - terrible astigmatism means that without correction, his depth perception would be nil. He has a very sensitive digestive system and cannot digest meat - it'll make him sick.
History: Morgan was born in New York City to a low-income family; his father was a police officer and he had two brothers and a younger sister. He and his siblings all had part-time jobs as soon as they were old enough to do so, and Morgan graduated early with his GED so he could go to work. He joined the police force as soon as he was of age; his father was extremely proud, and used to say "Someday I'll be taking orders from him."
Morgan never rose very high in the police ranks, however. He was capable under fire, but there was always someone better qualified when promotion was an option. It didn't help that Morgan was outspoken with his opinions and didn't play the politics game very well. He also didn't have very good study skills, owing to his limited time in school. So after ten years on the force he was still a regular cop, though he was frequently drafted for the more dangerous assignments because of his steady nature (and, he will later understand, the magic that let him read body language well).
For a few years he had reoccurring dreams about running on all fours. Even his normal dreams frequently had an underlying strange rhythm, almost like music - percussion, drums, heartbeats, a thrilling and primal sensation. He liked these dreams, but was puzzled by them. They only made sense after Noah showed up and explained to him that he was a horse, about three years ago.
He married a fellow Tale named Rowanne shortly after they met in 2005. They had been married in several previous lives, and Morgan mistakenly thought that meant they'd automatically work out in this life. Several issues went unattended, their communication was poor and she recently packed up and moved back to the UK. Morgan is, suffice to say, displeased about the whole thing.
Personality: Morgan is a genuinely good cop who believes in the system, but a decade years as a police officer in New York will make any man cynical and wary no matter how much he wants to believe in the goodness of human nature. He's seen people, even wonderful people, at their very worst. So he is suspicious, perhaps even a little paranoid. But he is more mentally stable than a lot of his co-workers, and like all good cops, will go to great lengths to keep a situation from becoming violent. In ten years he's drawn his gun four times, and only used it once. (As far as my research indicates, this is typical - perhaps slightly high - for most street cops who are not pulling traffic duty.)
He knows he's a nice-looking man, but from his divorce he also knows that looks might initiate a spark but it's not enough for happiness in a relationship, so physical appearance - his own and others' - is of limited concern to him. He keeps himself well-groomed to maintain the appearance of a clean-cut, respectable authority figure that is so necessary to a police officer. He has great self-doubt, stemming from his stalled career and failed marriage. He draws inner strength from a firm belief in justice and maintaining order, but that will only take one so far.
He's an intelligent person but not very well educated. He has a curious mind and likes to read, though mostly non-fiction. He's very into rock music, especially heavy percussion and primal rhythms.
He's a very hard-working individual, stoic and powerful but he has never been in control of his own situation. This is especially reflected in the story of the Horse and the Stag, in which the horse seeks revenge on the stag for intruding on his grazing but finds himself enslaved to the hunter.
The primal connection to horses in particular and animals in general will be a big piece of his puzzle - the revelation will be a sort of "Aha!" moment for him. His dreams and his love for primal-type rock music ties into his animal-form, and the exultation of running. Once he really accepts this form and explores it he will recognize the raised, loud heartbeat, the beat of his hooves and the rush of wind as he runs as the rhythm he was recognizing on a subconscious level in his music. He is also a vegetarian, not necessarily because he has a political or moral agenda attached to it but because he can't stand the taste of meat. To him it tastes foul, like eating carrion, and he gets sick if he tries to force himself to eat it.
